Itinerary Flores - Alor - Lembata - Flores

Day 1

Embarkation at Maumere Harbour on Flores. The vessel will leave in the course of the afternoon and take you on an overnight crossing to one of the most remarkable sights in Eastern Indonesia. Your first sunset and dinner at sea.

Day 2
You will wake up with the ship at anchor off the Island of Kumba, a smoldering volcano in the middle of the Flores sea. You will go ashore on one of the pebble beaches and this is also the first opportunity to go snorkeling. We leave again in the course of the morning on our way to the island of Alor where we will spend the night at anchor at the entrance of Kebola Bay.

Day 3
You will go ashore at the town of Kalabahi and through the rugged landscape will cross to the village of Takpala to get some insight in the specific character of Alor and witness some traditional dances.

Day 4
You will explore the small islands of Pura and Ternate in the Pantar Strait. In this area we are very likely to run into the dolphins that are indigenous to these waters.

Day 5

We will sail around the South coast of Pantar into the Alor Strait and in the afternoon we will go ashore for nature a trek on the island of Watubalu, which is uninhabited by humans but has a population of wild deer.

Day 6
We arrive on the South coast of Lembata to visit the traditional whale hunting village of Lamalerap. Here local fisherman still practice a primitive form of whaling with their small open boats that are called "pledang."

Day 7
We explore Waienga Bay on the North side of the island at the foot of the majestic Ile Api volcano, an area known to produce the best ikats of Lembata. We go ashore to visit one of the most culturally traditional villages on the island. In the evening beach BBQ.

Day 8
We still have time for a morning swim before going to Maumere airport.
