The Junk 114 is built from the finest Burmese teak and ironwood, and furnished with beautiful hand-crafted decorations and ornaments fashioned by local artisans.
She is some 34 metres long and 7 metres wide, ensuring ample space for all on board.
The twin masts are junk-rigged with traditional style sails that are both beautiful and functional: when the weather is suitable she is gently wafted along by the wind.
At other times the 500bhp diesel engine ensures she makes her destination, cruising at a sedate 8 to 10 knots.
The vessel is fully insured for up to 80 passengers and meets International Marine Organization safety standards. The crew are well experienced –
the captain has been piloting large merchant ships in SE Asian waters for over twenty years. Excellent first aid facilities are available at all times,
along with lifejackets, two life-rafts and numerous other features which exceed local safety requirements: the welfare of all on board is paramount.
